Import the file into your web first, before inserting the link on the page.

| The pdf files are created on the network and then stored in a specified
| folder for that year/month. I then open the page where I want the link to
| the pdf to be. Then, I click the hyperlink icon and when I select the
folder
| where the PDF files are it gets stuck and no files or folders are shown.
So,
| I go up one folder, find the root dir and get to the folder where the pdfs
| are. The moment I select the folder to link to a PDF file is when the
path
| shows W:\folder\file.pdf and as we have done before that path was like
this
| /../../folder/file.pdf
