What's New: Version 1.2 Build 0114: Find text in document!
Version 1.2 Build 0101: Select text and copy!

Actually it says Build 0115 in the programme.

With these two recently added features it begins to look like a
serious alternative to that notorious piece of bloatware, which shall
remain unmentioned.

900 Kb download.

Frank,

YES! I agree, and recently switched.

I would appreciate a BHO or other way to view PDF files rather than download
them then viewing them. FoxIt integration would be a great feature in a
browser shell or D/L manager too. That way, no BHO would be needed.

The new features are a great improvement. To Bob's suggestion, I would add:

1. Foxit's search function should be in the Edit menu, in addition to
the toolbar button.

2. In Adobe Reader, you can turn off the ads (the ones that appear in
the upper right), and they stay off. In Foxit, turning off the ads only
lasts for the current session; once you close the program and reopen it,
they're back. This should be fixed.

3. IMO, font rendering in Adobe Reader is superior to that in Foxit.

I've removed the superfluous plugins from the Adobe Reader plugins
directory - that is, all but EWH32.api and Search.api, although Adobe
Reader added some additional folders the next time I ran the progrom,
and apparently there's no way to get rid of them permanently. Anyway,
now that I've done so, the speed difference between Adobe and Foxit is
negligible, if present at all, so for now Adobe is still my preferred
PDF reader.

No ads in Foxit that I've seen. There's a single graphic in the top
right, but it never changes, and neither does Foxit try to load any
from the net.

It's an ad for Foxit PDF editor. It can be turned off by going into the
View menu and choosing "Advertising," but, as I stated in my earlier
post, the next time you open the program, it will return.

Yeah, but it doesn't "rotate" ads like Opera, for example. All it
does is mention another app by the same company -- it's not like
it's bombarding you with ads for third-party products. But if it
bothers you, it's obviously your right to avoid it. :)
