Excellent find. Thanks!

The DelphiNero API I found in the "New Files" section is going to be
excellent when it finds its way into Freeware.

The "DualXplorer" file manager is also a very nice find.

Site will NOT load if I deny it Active-X controls. So, its a no go for me.

It loads fine for me. That's under my default MSIE security zone, which has
these settings:

Disable: download signed activeX controls
Disable: download unsinged activeX controls
Disable: initialize and script activeX controls
Disable: run activeX controls and plugins
Disable: script activeX controls marked safe for scripting
Disable: active scripting
Disable: scripting of java applets

The site also loads fine in my Moz-based K-meleon, which does not do activeX
scripting, and where I do allow javascript. I think your situation has
something to do with Shockwave, at least in part.

/javascript">
function nowy_rec( image, URL, redirect, flash )
. . .
TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"'

'PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed></object>

I've seen some discussions here in ACF about how to control the situation
when there is a Shockwave trick on a page. But I did not pay attention, as
I don't ever have occasion to want to load it online, wo it's removed from
my system (have Irfanview for offline view of .swf). Just to say I believe
there are ways you can configure your settings so that a site like that
will not pose a problem. Whether it's whatever solutions with Shockwave
handling. Or, even just test what happens if you put the site in a higher
MSIE security zone, where your browser answers NO, without prompt.

Nothing to do with my browser or shockwave. My firewall has the ability
to block/allow Active-X, Java and VB scripts, Java applets, Cookies, and
Referrers on a site by site basis. For ActiveX I have it set to prompt
me. On this site I denied, and all I got was a page with a couple of
lines of some scripting language on it. Most sites will continue to load
even with ActiveX denied. In this case, not at all. Now if I really
really wanted to take a chance with this unknown site then I could have
allowed ActiveX and reloaded ......... but why bother, I doubt I missed
anything that will affect my 'life plan'. Some site developers really
need to realize that not every surfer is prepared to take chances.

DualXplorer is *NICE*!!!! It's the first one I've seen that would even make
me think about replacing 2X.

Check out those tabs at the bottom. FTP client and server one click away!

Wish it had thumbnails in selected folders.

I e-mailed the author. Right now he's building a bathroom, but as soon as
he finishes it he intends to improve and polish DualXplorer. This one is
definitely worth watching! I really like it. I think the only thing mising
that I would use would be the thumbnails.

Yes nice feature...and the whole thing looks impressive, but...
Wish it had thumbnails in selected folders.

It seems fancy features like that may have gotten a bit to much
attention, compared to simple navigation/file management. Some very
thoughtful features are in place I notice, but others are missing. For
example, if you remove the directory tree display, so you only see the
dual (or single) file windows - what is missing is a simple showing of
dot dot .. topmost in the file window. The dot dot to be clicked, to
serve same function as DOS "CD.." command, change directory up one
level. I might have missed something, because without this - how do I
navigate up one level without opening the tree pane(s)?

Looks a bit "bulky" also, makes me miss ability to tweak window
borders etc even more. Remove both directory tree and drive bar, and
it looks much better IMHO, but then I am also pretty much stuck where
I am - in current dir. Config options missed... but I'm sure features
will be added and designe modified in time. :)

All the best,
Bjorn Simonsen

Tabs? Did someone say a free file navigator with Tabs? Where? I want...

Bjorn,

If there are no thumbnails (which CAN be turned off, BTW), then how can I
find a certain photo among 4,967 pictures of my kids and pets? :)

IMHO, if an explorer has the same or less functionality as the Windows
Explorer, then it's worthless. More functionality is always good, providing
the options can be turned off.

But I agree this file manager has lots of potential.

Sorry, bad quoting. I should have removed your line about thumbnails.
When i said "fancy features like that" I had FTP client/server (and
tabbed view of) in mind. :)

But it is not a tabbed file manager. The tabs are there to shift between
the dual pane file manager function, the ftp function, options settings,
etc..

DualXplorer has a "view inside zip files" function, but it is buggy, I got
trapped inside a zip file and had to restart the program to get out of it.

DualXplorer could be useful to somebody, especially if the ftp function is
appreciated.

It does not install itself into windows, it is just an exe file which is
executed.
Easy to uninstall, just delete it again.

I am not sure if I am going to delete it.. could I ever have some use for
this program.. no, its gone.
I think powerdesk5 is the next best file manager, and it holds the position
as my backup file manager when I cannot use TC.

Ah, dommage. :<
TC at www.ghisler.com is the only tabbed file manager I know of.
Not freeware, more like nagware/payware. :-)

There is one other, payware. www.tabexplorer.com. The most retarded
selling plan I've ever seen. The trial can only be run for 10 min at
a time. So given how we use file navigators, that translates to what,
1 minute active use per session. I had to immediately resign to the
situation that the developer either (1) did not want me to purchase
his product; or (2) figured that the opportunity to truly review his
product in action would surely dissuade me.
