On startup I get a message Found New Hardware Devise -
Printer. And there isn't one. This started when I
started using a USB mouse. I have unplugged and
restarted and tried everything I can think of. I even
told the system I was installing the 'new printer', but
that failed as well. I also removed both printers. No
luck.

I run XP Professional with 256mg of RAM. I have one
direct printer and one networked printer - both working.

Hope someone can help.

Not very logical but try removing the mouse in device manager and remove the
mouse software.Switch the computeroff Then reinstall the mouse software.
Switch on and XP should find the mouse and install the software

.
GO to your device manager. choose VIEW & SHOW HIDDEN
DEVICES. See if anything pops up. Sometimes in XP it will
keep the printer even though it's not connected. I have
seen this several times. Open up everything & see if you
get a listing for any printer at all. Also in printers &
faxes choose FILE & SERVER PROPERTIES.. on the drivers tab
remove any printer that is not installed.

It worked! Thanks Chris.
