Found hardware problem

I recently experienced problems with the software for my Dell AIO 966
printer. On advice from the Dell NG's, I uninstalled all of my USB
controllers, and rebooted in the expectation that Windows would detect and
reinstall them.

To a point, this was successful, but now whenever I boot my system, I get
the windows "New hardware found"dialogue. Any, and I do mean ANY, mouse
clicks in the dialog area at this point result in my mouse and keyboard
being totally frozen.

Device Manager reports all the usual stuff, along with 2 "Unknown Device"
entries. I have no idea what these 2 devices are, and can't tell anything
from what is available in Device Manager. As far as I can tell, everything
is working correctly, so I can't figure it out that way.

The only way I can boot my system now is to wait for the Hardware found
dialog, R-Click the taskbar, and kill the dialog from Task Manager. I
usually have to kill it 3 times, at which point all is well.

I've replaced the Dell printer that started this nonsense with an Epson
Workforce 500, and have no printer problems.

I'm obviously way over my head here folks. Any suggestions?

Thanx,

All drivers for the AIO printer have installed and function correctly.

Device Manager has the following entries under USB Controllers:

CA-200 (The card reader, I believe)
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
Unknown Device
Unknown Device
USB2.0 Mass Storage
USB2.0 MFP
USB2.0 Printer

Printer, Keyboad, and Mouse are the only devices I have plugged into USB
ports, and all function correctly. I'd guess that one or both of the
"Unknown" devices is causing the problem, but I have no idea what they are,
and when Windows does its Found New Hardware routine and offers choices (Ask
later, Don't ask again, Search web, Locate manually, I believe), ANY mouse
or keyboard action on this dialog immedietely locks the mouse and keyboard
up and requires a cold reboot. Using Task Manager to kill the process is
the only way I can get the system to boot all the way. I can't make heads
or tails out of the entries under Properties for either of the Unknown
devices in Device Manager.

Thanx,
