"Found" folder

My Dell laptop with W2K had a "C: drive not formatted"
error message, yet W2K ran fine. I mistakenly restarted
before investigating further and had startup errors (after
an automatic disk check)stating that portions of the drive
were corrupt and the windows shkrnl.exe file was bad and
needed to be re-installed.

Dell support had me re-install W2K much to my chagrin
because I thought I would lose non-backed-up data. Upon
booting after re-install all of my folders were intact on
the C drive, programs had to be re-installed and a huge
folder (700mb)called "Found" was created. What is it, what
happened, and what do I do? Everything seems to be running
properly, including ArcView projects.

Thanks

What happened when you restarted the pc was chkdsk ran and found broken
chains/ lost clusters, then created *.chk files of them so you can delete
them and regain the otherwise lost drive space. They're not really meant to
be recoverable files, you can go ahead and delete the files to regain the
lost space.
