Forwarding when I don't want it to

Whenever I retrieve e-mails they go to my "inbox" but they also go to my
"outbox" and are sent to my home e-mail address.

I have gone to rules and there is no rule telling it to forward my e-mails.
I don't know where else to look. Obviously I've had a rule in the past
"when out of office" was on that forwarded the mail, but I no longer have it
and it still forwards all mail coming into my "inbox."

What version of Outlook?

what type of email account?
gmail with google
do you have a forwarding rule set up on the server?
No, from two other computers I access the same email account and they don't
forward my emails to the outbox.
have you tried opening outlook using the cleanrules switch?
No, I didn't know about the switches, I can try that, though I'm not sure
why the other two computers don't have the same problem.

Thanks Diane

Is this an upgrade from a prior version? Did you use Tools->Organize to set a server level rule in the previous version?

Yes, I upgraded from Outlook 2003 to 2007.

It happened in Outlook 2003 also and I just put up with it. I now have
confidential business mail that I don't want forwarded automatically to my
home.

I don't ever remember making any rule other than an the "Out of Office
Assistant" rule that forwarded my mail to my home when I was "Out of the
Office." But, I deleted that rule. I do not have that I am "Out of the
Office" so it shouldn't be forwarding it.

When I had the forwarding rule active with the "Out of the Office" assistant
I was at an office with an exchange server for my e-mail. I am no long
there so I don't have an exchange server, so I can no longer access the "Out
of Office" tool.

Could it still be in the background working?

No, the Out of Office Assistant is an Exchange server-side action. If you no longer have access to the server, the action cannot take place.
