forwarding vfiles to ipod

I am trying to transfer my contacts to my ipod mini. I can't seem to get this
to work without individually selecting each one of over 300 contacts, saving
it to my computer harddrive and THEN transferring the file to my ipod. There
SURELY has to be an easier way!!!
