Forwarding iCalendar from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2000

Has anyone had problems forwarding an iCalendar
appointment to someone running Outlook 2000? I am
running Outlook2002 and the recepient keeps getting the
calendar items as a "vCalendar" and can not open it. Any
advice?
