Forwarding a task doesn't work as expected

I'm am trying to find out exactly what "Forwarding a task" does and the only
real doc on it says "Forward a task for others to track ". I thought that
meant that if I created a taskassinged to someone and wanted others to be
able to track updates as well as myself, that I could forward the task. I am
receiving updates from the person I assigned the task to and they are getting
successfully updated in the task in my task folder. However, the person I
forwarded the task to is ALSO able to update the task and I am NOT getting
those updates.

I did not expect that forwarding would allow someone else to update the
task. Also, the person that I originally assigned to the task to is getting
the forwardee's updates and not me. So, what really is the purposes of
forward and what are the expected results? There is no doc on it in help to
speak of.

And, give that forward may not work for my purpose, how can I have more than
one person get updates for a particular task? As the project manager, I
assign the tasks. However, I'd like the Director to get updates to certain
tasks as well.

Thanks.

As fas as I know only the person who requested the Task will get automatic
updates to the status ( if they check that setting). The Owner of the Task
can send the other person an update using the Send Status Report function.
