when I try to go to www.yahoo.com IE gives me a generic can't find page....if
I try to ping yahoo.com lookup is fine...but when I try to ping www.yahoo.com
lookup fails with unknown host.... when I use NSLOOKUP and I change the
server to the server we are using as a forwarder I get perfect name
resolution......basicly my system is not forwarding or the forwarders
response in not coming back....

can any one Help?
Thanks In Advance James

when I do an NSlookup here is what I get

I would break out NetMon on server01.variantresearch.com and capture query
coming in and what the server is doing with it. If you can pair it down,
you can post the netmon results for review. Cheers.

server01.variantresearch.com is my Internal DNS server.......

my client machines only see my 2 domain controllers for DNS...server01
and
server02...primary and secondary respectfully....

when I do an nslookup it defaults to server01.........

I have DNS opened up on the firewall so you can query that DNS server from
the out side...... I did this to see if the firewall was blocking the
answer
from the DNS server I use as a Forwarder.......

If I query the forwarder 204.97.212.10 for www.yahoo.com it responds
instantly with the correct answer...but when I query my DNS server that
uses
the 204.97.212.10 as a forwarder I get a failure......you are seeing the
same
failure.

.... why can't that DNS server get Sub domains?.....yahoo.com is fine but
www.yahoo.com and finance.yahoo.com will not work........

Thank you for your help

James

:

When I query that server for yahoo.com. I get:
---
opcode: Query, status: NoError, id: 42
flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0

QUESTION SECTION:
yahoo.com. IN A

ANSWER SECTION:
yahoo.com. 72 IN A 216.109.112.135
yahoo.com. 72 IN A 66.94.234.13

Query time: 438 ms
Server : 63.175.176.151:53 udp (63.175.176.151)
When : 10/26/2004 9:59:38 AM
Size rcvd : 59

When I query for www.yahoo.com., it always times out (i.e. not reply in
timeout period.) Who/what is server01.variantresearch.com. I would
guess
it is not configured correctly or lan issue.

when I try to go to www.yahoo.com IE gives me a generic can't find
page....if
I try to ping yahoo.com lookup is fine...but when I try to ping
www.yahoo.com
lookup fails with unknown host.... when I use NSLOOKUP and I change
the
server to the server we are using as a forwarder I get perfect name
resolution......basicly my system is not forwarding or the forwarders
response in not coming back....

can any one Help?
Thanks In Advance James
