possibly, but not *necessarily* emanating from your pc. A third party
containing both yours and the recipients addresses could be infected.
Nevertheless it would be better to update and scan using all the usual
suspects for peace of mind

Quite probably although it isn't from you.

Thank you both. I scanned my PC using the latest definitions and no
virus was found. I do however also own a mac. I was told that macs
do not get virus. Do you recommend some mac virus software. I will
also ask the relevant third parties to scan their machines.

This is not true. It is true that the number of mac virii out there are very
few, when I last checked there were about 40 nevertheless they are there and
there is no magic rule which says that virii creators will always leave it
alone. see http://www.faqs.org/faqs/computer-virus/macintosh-faq/

Some virii are not platform specific but can infect a program i.e. word
macro virus, some of which can affect a Mac.

You would be wise to install and update a Mac compatible AV program. It's
worth remembering that PC users are able to call on a vast reservoir of
advice re virus removal whereas the number of people that could help you
clean a Mac is far less.
