Hi all,

I have launch a DNS server in my company and the DNS have only 2 host records, eg, mail.mycompany.com, www.mycompany.com. All the computer in my computer use the DNS server as primary DNS server in their networking connection and leave the secordary DNS server blank
Now my colleague can connect to www.mycomputer.com and mail.mycomputer.com in the local lan, but when they want to browse another web site, say www.microsoft.com or www.yahoo.com, they fail
From my understanding, if the DNS server cannot resolve the DNS client request, it will forward/redirect the request to other DNS server, but what I have to set in the DNS server to make this feature available

Thank in advanc
ong

Ong,

I would of suggested using a secondary, external DNS
server in DHCP, The other option is to use DNS forwarding
but for the most part what I've seen in other peoples
implimentations and which I have mimmicked in my own is
have a secondary DNS server, I guess thats why the box is
there! :)

Cheers

Steve.

Ong,

Sorry, In answer to your actual question, If you go into
the DNS MMC windows and go to the properties of the
computer running DNS, Go into the Forwarders tab and check
the 'enable forwarders' box, enter your alternate DNS
servers here.

Cheers
