Ok since i am getting nowhere and the advice are quite open and
unanswered. Just for your information I have just created another
secondary on another server, which is not a dc and when i re-start
that server all the settings are still there.
But the problem still lies on DNS on domain controller - when i
re-start the dc i loose all the dns settings.
If anyone has a realistic answer please advice.
Many thanks
Sorry if it wasn't helpful or realistic, but it's a situation that no one
has seen before. If we've seen it before, we can turn around and say, "Yes,
I know exactly what it is", and give you a resolve. Why do you think no one
else has really answered yet? At least I didn't ignore the post and have
been trying to help with suggestions and will retract if you desire so.
I did really want to see a snapshot of what you're seeing because maybe it
will show me something you're not describing. But it doesn't seem like
you're reluctant to offer it or didn't read that part of the post.
There are also issues with the zone name itself that can probably cause
this. Maybe it doesn't like the 'int' TLD and it conflicts with something
else, who knows. It maybe a reserved word, depending on what localized
language is on the box. There's actually a link describing not to use
reserved words.
How do you have your zones loaded? That will show under your advanced tab in
DNS properties.
Maybe the DNS installation is corrupted. I've seen strange things when DNS
was added after the installation and after a service pack, but installed
with the RTM i386 folder without upating the service pack. Usually I have an
SP integrated i386 to install after the fact to eliminate this issue.
Maybe the NIC teaming software has something to do with it.
Sometimes, in cases like this, remoting into the machine for a look-see can
show something that we're missing in our dialogue.
