Vista movie maker creates files that, as the popup says in XP when trying to
open the file, "file was created by a version of windows movie maker that is
no longer supported"; XP Not forward compatible. Vista not supported? Can
Vista make backward compatible files?
As for Movie files created on XP running on Vista, I am disapointed to say
that Vista backward compatibility is not present as well.
This compatibility issues is not limited just to movie maker but almost all
programs that run in respective operating systems, Such as PC games purchaced
at the store or downloaded.
Where are the Vista backward patches? Where are the XP forward patches. Must
we all be forced to upgrade from XP to Vista and lose all are back files?
Granted Vista just came out but you'd think MS would already have easilly
accessable solutions for this obvious issue. What are we suposed to do?
Microsoft told me to pay them $70.00+ to purchase help from them for this
issue. Oh really? This is MS's responsibility not my pocket book's!
In the mean time do not purchace any programs from any source for a long
while! let's see if MS can rectify this situation; their dime! If Not it
might be wise to avoid Vista at all costs! It's too bad I like Vista, not to
mention I'm stuck with a preinstalled system, which can not be downgraded to
XP!
How can we fix this compatibility problem?
