Hi guys, I'm new in the forum, I have this problem: in an excel woorkbook
every time a edit a formula, the formula doesn't evaluate anymore, it simply
shows the text of the formula, is the sam if I edit it on the cell, on the
formula bar or uisn the especific formula window (i.e. the fx button). I only
have to select the cell press F2, then enter and the formula doesn't not
evaluate anymore, it simply shows the text of the formula
=VLOOKUP(B90,'Fallas ZEPF'!$A$1:$B$8,2,FALSE).

Hi,

If you see the formulas in the cell for all cells then choose Tools,
Options, View tab and uncheck Formulas.

If you see the formulas only for the cells in which you have press F2 it
suggests tha the range is set to a format of TEXT. Select all the cells in
question and choose Format, Cells, General or Number. Now put your cursor in
a cell and press F2 and the formula should evaluate when you press Enter

Thanks shane, it did worked, the only thing is that you have to change the
format of the cell to GENERAL prior to enter or editing a new formula,
because if the fomula was entered once with TEXT formatting, even if you
change the format the formula will not evaluate anyway. So I had to erase the
formula, change the format to GENERAL and then re-entering the formula.

Regards.

Hi Javier

For your future reference, you don't need to delete the formulae.
Format the column as General, then select the cell>press F2 (edit
mode)>Enter
Saves a lot of re-typing, and is less prone to lead to errors through typos
on re-entry.
