Has anynone encounter this problem in MS Excel in Office XP??

I use a spreadsheet that basically adds up numbers and gives me a tota
on the bottom. Today it stopped doing that. I change numbers and th
total stays unchanged unless I highlight the total's cell, put th
cursor in the formula bar on top at the end of the formula and hi
ENTER. It won't do it on its own anymore. This happens in ever
spreadsheet I use so it's not just that one file. Can someone help?
Thanks.

Tools>Options>Calculation, check "Automatic"

Try this:

<Tools> <Options> <Calculation>
And make sure "Automatic" *is* checked.

If that works, this might explain why:

Wow, that was easy and painless. Thank you so much. I wonder how di
this setting change on its own. I was afraid I had some kind of viru
at first. Thanks again.

If you're wondering how it got switched to "manual"......

Excel takes the Calculation mode each session from the settings on the first
workbook opened in that session.

i.e. If you saved Book1 with calc mode in manual and opened it first, calc
mode would be in Manual.

If you saved Book2 with calc mode in auto and opened it after Book1, Book2
would be in manual mode(Excel ignores the auto calc mode in this case).

If you close Book1 before opening Book2, Book2 will be in auto calc mode.

Confusing enough? <g>
