I am trying to copy a formula in multiple cells. I WANT the cell number to
change but not the letter. I AM using an absolute for the letter but not the
number. However the exact same formula is copied, it doesn't change. I have
also tried not using an absolute but I get the same result.
Example
+j1*h1

and I've tried

+$j1*$h1

Now, if I double click and then hit enter, the formula I want appears in the
cell. I have about 1,000 cells to copy to, I can't double click and hit
enter 1,000 tomes. Thanks for your help.

Hello:

Are you copying the formula from the cell or from the formula bar? If you copy
from the formula bar you get the identical formula. If you are copying from a
cell then the problem might be that you have sheet set on manual re-calculation.
Trying changing it to automatic: Tools/Option/Calculation/automatic. Doubling
clicking the cell forces re-calculation of just that cell. You can also hit
F9 to recalulate after you have copied all the cells. (or each time but that
is still a lot of work)
