formula to hide row

I was hoping somebody would reply if they know how to
write a conditional formula that will automatically hide
the row if the result is true.

Hi btk!

Formulas can't hide a row but you might, with limitations, hide the
contents of the row.

Select the row
Format > Conditional Format
Formula is:
=$A$1=7
Format button
Select a font colour the same as the pattern colour.
OK
OK

Perhaps you could explain *why* you want to hide the rows. There might be
other solutions.

For example, in accounting reports there are many reasons you might want to
hide rows by calculation. One common example is a departmental spending
report, where each department has a different number of accounts, and you
want to hide the unused rows between the last row of data and the grand
total. I can think of several ways to deal with that problem.
