Formula to divide total into months

I am putting together an estimated budget and have the yearly total figures
What formula do I use in the total cell that would divide the total into
each month evenly?
Example:
JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP OCT NOV DEC TOTAL

Hi,

Not clear.You say you have the yearly totals and then why should you
enter anything in the total cell?

Lets say total is in cell X1, Enter the formula =$X$1/12 in each of the
months.

I don't think I understand you right, but you have a value in the total
and you want it to automatically divide up under each month?

Say the cell where the Total budget exists is M2.

In the cells under the month names just enter =M2/2
