It sounds like Automatic Recalculation has become turned off.
Go to Tools=>Options=>Calculation and set it back to Automatic

It may be that your workbook has automatic calculation turned off.
Go to Tools , Options, Calcualtion tab and ensure that Calculation is
set to Automatic.
