Trying not to beat a dead horse. I tried all the formulas
with the help of everyone last night and I am still
stuck. I need the figure in block "E17" to come out as
the exact dollar amount, based on the %ages, 0-250 25%,
250.01-499.99 35%, 500.00+ 50%...the one listed below is
the only one that give the correct %ages, but I need it to
show exact dollar amount. Help. Yes, I am new at this.

=SUMPRODUCT(((E17>{0,250,499.99})*{0.25,0.1,0.15}))

This one seems to be working correctly.

But it is giving me a .25/.35/.50 of the total individual
amount that is in block E17, what I need is the exact
dollar amount....like $100.00 / .25 = $25.00
$255.00 / .35 = $89.25
$501.00 / .50 = $250.50

When I use your formula below 41.02 comes out as 5.05 it
should be .25 of 41.02 or 10.25 and it never changes, I
need it to come out as follows: "E17" to come out as
the exact dollar amount, based on the %ages, 0-250 25%,
250.01-499.99 35%, 500.00+ 50%...

When I input 41.02 in E17, the formula I gave you returns 10.255 (which
rounds to 10.26, not 10.25).

I can't think of any reason that the formula would return 5.05, unless
E17 contains the value 20.20. Did you copy the formula from my post and
paste it into your cell? If not, check for typos.

As far as the result not changing, are you sure you have calculation set
to automatic (Tools/Options/Calculation)?

As I said, I am new. It works great. I was taking a
value from where it should not have, once I corrected, it
work smooth as butter.

Thanks to G M for the final answer.
