Formula Help -- Lookup, Database??

Could someone help me in writing the formula as described below??

My worksheet looks:
Column A is just an index column with the numbers rising by 1.
Column B is the date
Column C is Aircraft Type - letters and number (i.e C172, PA28161)
Column D is Aircraft ID - letters and nmbers (i.e. N64204, N4126N)
Column E is Number of Landings - numbers only
Column F is duration of flight - numbers only

I want a formula that looks up all the similar aircraft types and add
up the total duration for all like types. For example in column
there are values such as C172 and PA28161. I would like to have
formula that says look at column C, find all values that equal C172
then take the value from column F in the same row and add that togethe
with all the rest of the C172's. Then I would change the criteria t
PA28161 and find the total hours in that plane, etc.

Thanks a lot that did it.

Could I ask for a little more help in the same scenario?

I would like to have Excel count the number of rows for each aircraf
type so I can effectively say how many flights I had in that type o
aircraft.

Also I would like to have it lookup the most recent flight for tha
aircraft type and enter that into another cell.
