Hi All

I am creating a standard bar chart and I need to know what the maximum value
on the y axis will be. Also, I need to know the size of increments and how
many there will be.

I was hoping somebody might know the formula that Excel uses when creating
the chart to define these values on the y-axis.

Any help would be appreciated

Thankyou

Unfortunately these articles are less helpful than they appear on first reading.
They describe how the min and max are determined with respect to the major unit.
Unfortunately they keep secret the method used to calculate the major unit itself.

Hi Jon

The reason that I was asking is that I wanted to set up an automated broken
y-axis graph (using hints from your website - Thanks very much) I seem to
have found a way around it. Now when I "call up" new data to be graphed the
broken y-axis graph plots automatically.
