I have this formula:
=sum(G25:G29) for adding up the 8:00 hours per day and
instead of adding up to 40, it adds up to 16:00. What am
I doing wrong?

Custom format your formula cell as [h]:mm

The cell is formated to h:mm
When I do a control and click on the both of the weekly
totals, it shows 80 hours (for 2 weeks) on the status bar
below but on the in the cell on the spreadsheet it still
shows 16:00

You must custom format the cell as [h]:mm. The [] tells
Excel to roll over the hours (past 24:00). Format > Cells
Number tab, click Custom, and insert [h]:mm on the right
underneath "Type".

Did you what Jason said? Change the format to custom [h]:mm
