Formula displaying in select cells

I have a spreadsheet that has numerous vlookup formulas in
it. Sometimes when I go into one of the cells with a
formula in it to edit it, whether I make a change or not,
when I exit, I no longer see the results, I see the
formula. In the past I could close it and reopen then go
to tools options and the show formulas option is on
although not all the formuals in the worksheet are
displaying. I could turn it off and then all would be
well. It is no longer working. No matter what I do,
other than clearing all and re-entering the formula, it
still displays the formula in those select cells.
 
You may try ensuring that these cells are formatted as 'general', for
example, and not 'text'.

Right click on the cell, go to format cell, and see where it's set now..

if 'Formula' is not checked in the options dialog check if the cell
format is set to 'Text' if yes change this to 'General'
 
Thanks, they are all formatted as text. I will try that
and see what it does. I just cleared them all and redid
the formula and copied it back down and it is ok for now.
 
Thanks for your response. I had the same thing happen in
another spreadsheet. I tried changing the format from
text to general, any other ideas?
