Darlene O'Connell

We created a web site with some pages that have forms and
navigational buttons. When we publish to our host server
(Verio), the pages with forms display: [FrontPage Save
Results Component]. And if use the submit button, we get a
FrontPage Run-Time Component Page, You have submitted a
form or followed a link to a page that requires a web
server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function
properly...etc.
I have gone thru numerous techs at Verio, and they all
tell me we have to create the forms after publishing! Can
that be??!?? Reluctantly, we created a form while
connected to the host server, but when we save the form,
we lose all the navigational buttons! (Recalculating
hyperlinks doesn't change anything) We are using FrontPage
98 and Verio assures us that the extensions are installed
and enabled. Thank you in advance for any information.

Darlene,

The Save Results Component message indicates missing or
corrupt extensions or a problem with your form properties.

The Run Time Component message definitely indicates a
problem with the extensions themselves.

The FrontPage forms requires the FrontPage Server
Extensions as well as publishing with FP to an http
location. If you have used FTP to transfer files to your
site, this would like have corrupted the extensions,
requiring a reset or reinstall of the FPSE.

As with any FP site, if the extensions are properly
installed, you should be able to create the form on your
PC and publish the form to your site successfully.

In addition to the FPSE, the form will require the email
transport(SMTP) to be set up properly in order for the
form to send the results to you.

If you can reset the extensions from your control panel,
do this next. If you can't access this from your control
panel, have Verio reset them for you.

Although some hosting solutions claim to be
FP compatible, they may not have fully functioning
extensions.

FrontPage Save Results Component Possibilities:
1. The FP Extensions are not installed on the server. Or the version that
is installed does not support all of the features in the version of FrontPage you are using.
- have the host run a health check and or repair on the FP SE
2. You tested the form in the browser via c:\.... instead of http://. Use File | Preview in Browser instead of Preview if viewing
locally.
3. You have a email address in the form, and the host hasn't enabled the email function of the extensions
4. You used FTP on the form to the web site, instead of using FP's http method of uploading
