They are two separate forms, from a practical standpoint. The composer
sees the compose form, and the reader sees the read form. Nothing that
is on the compose form is visible to the reader unless the forms
designer makes it visible.

I think it is a mistake to make the forms separate by default. You
should remove the split as the first action of designing a form, unless
you have good reason to keep something that you are putting it
invisible.

When the forms designer comes up, click on the forms menu and uncheck
the split option immediately.

I, too, am having the same difficulty. There doesn't seem
to be a comprehensive help section in Outlook, and I'm
having a hard time locating a tutorial on the web.
Thanks

I don't know of any tutorial, but you can get lots of information by
going to this page and clicking on the blossoms of knowledge:

Search at slipstick.com and outlookcode.com and outlook-tips.net

Great suggestion, but the does not seem to be any choice
to do this on the form that I have alrready designed in OL
2000. The Forms drop down does not have this selection nor
does any other menu item that I can find.

In Outlook 2003, it is "Separate Read Layout". It is something like
that in OL2000.
