forms and tables

Hi, I tried and made a table and forms database for me to keep all my
customers info.

I have a little problem:

I opened the forms and entered all the information and data in it, but when
I close it and reopen it nothing is in it, but when I look in the table I see
the information. Why is it not being saved in the forms instead in the
table. Is this because of relationships problems?

Set the form property (Data Entry) to No

I think you have it set to yes at the moment which means that the form only
opens to a new record and previous entries cannot be seen.

I think there is something else that I did wrong. because i checked the form
property (data entry) and it is set to no. I can see some data that I entered
into the database when I was first setting up the database, but don't
remember what i did to keep it in there.

Hmmm.. If the information is there is the table then there's a problem
with the form: information is saved in tables and is only displayed in
forms. It's unlikely to be a "relationships" issue from what you say,
as "Relationships" is a term used to refer to the situation where a
record in one table refers to a record in another table by storing the
"foreign" record's "key" (unique identifier). Here's what I'd suggest.

Back up your database (File menu, backup).

Have a look at your table, and count the records there (should display
the number of records in the "VCR" control at the bottom).

Then create a new form using the Forms Wizard. Can you click through
all the records in this new one? Note that you can have multiple forms
for the same table(s) so that information is displayed and manipulated
in different ways.

Sometimes, especially when you're starting out, it's better to ditch a
troublesome form or report and create a new one using the wizard. As you
get used to working with them you'll figure out how to adapt your forms
and reports but it's always great to start out with one that works!

thank you all so much. I think that what it is, I will go try your
suggestions. I think something is definitely wrong. Becuase now I try to
place a tab form in the form I created (just trying out new things), when I
click on the tab form icon in the design tab and drag it in the form nothing
happens. it is like i didn't do anything. But when I double click it then it
appears in the form, but it will continue to display the tab icon until I go
back and click on the select tab (in the same design tab) before it will go
away.

I am think about unstalling and reinstalling the access program. what do you
think.

Access is complex - fabulously complex when you really get into it. In
fact the best thing about Access is how well it succeeds in hiding that
complexity from you until you're ready to digest another slice.

Some programs you can just click all the buttons and you'll figure it
out fairly quickly. Not Access. If ever there was a program which
rewards slow careful mastery, one step at a time, it's Access. I'm
certainly still learning.

So, I'd suggest you find a suitable textbook and work through it, or
maybe try the excellent online courses at www.lynda.com, and build a
solid foundation. Start with table design and "normalisation", move on
to queries, then forms, then reports. You can mess about with the more
obscure features when you have the basics well understood. That's my
plan, anyway!

Hi,

Is it possible that you filtered the results? Try clearing all
filters. In Access 2007: In the Home ribbon, in the Sort & Filter section,
Advanced, Clear All Filters. In Access 2003 or earlier: Records menu,
Remove Filter/Sort. Also make sure the Filter property of the form does not
contain anything.
