Is it possible to set defaults for internal margins of Text Box? I want to
set them to zero and have them stay that way so that I don't need to set
them each time. Also, when I try to resize an image inside text Box using
mouse, the resizing appears to jump by steps. Is it possible to have a
smoother resizing with more control?

Set the internal margins as desired, close the Format Text Box dialog, and
then right-click on the text box border and choose Set AutoShape Defaults.
This will set the default for the document. If you want this to be the
default for all documents, you will need to do this in Normal.dot.

Very helpful Suzanne. Thank you. Any ideas on resizing pictures in text
boxes with mouse, smoothly and without the step jumps I seem to get?

the 'jump steps' are the invisible Snap To Grid action. You can override
snap to by holding down the ALT key whilst dragging. Alternative, if you
open the Drawing Toolbar, you can select Draw, Grid and uncheck Snap To.
