I have read in this thread that it was possible to use unnderscore character
or dashes with Courier New to get the lines in a Access report to show up in
Word. I need to put a box around 3 description fields. I can see getting the
dashes or underscore to work horizontally, but how would you get the dashes or
underscore to go vertically to form a box.

Do you have to use Word? How about using a free PDF driver to print your
report to a PDF document instead?

You can't You have all of the graphic capabilities that you have in Notepad.

I haven't tried this, so can't guarantee that it will work, but you could
try using the vertical bar character "|". On my keyboard, it's on the same
key as the back-slash ("\") key, but that's English (UK) keyboard layout, it
may be elsewhere if you use a different keyboard layout.
