I'm having trouble putting in a score result into a single cell. Fo
example, 2 - 1. I don't wanna span it over a few cells, but whenever
put "2 - 1" into the cell it comes up as either "37988" or "2-Jan".
tried formatting the cell as a normal number, and as general, but i
reverts back to date or some other whacky format. Anyone got a wa
around this? Oh, and I DO want to have spaces before and after the "-
cos I hate the way "2-1" looks. Too cramped. Plus that doesn't wor
either anyways

Either of these.....

Pre-format the cells as Text before entering 2 - 1

Enter an apostrophe then the 2 - 1

The apostrophe won't be seen in the cell.

You will need to enter the score as text

Method 1
Format cells as text by
highlighting the cells or column that holds the score
from the Format Menu select cells etc when dialog box opens find an
hightlight Text listed under catorgries
select OK botton

Method 2

you can force a text enrty by inserting a ' before your score. The
will not be displayed

eg
enter '2 -
