I am trying to make my report look like this:
Month 1 Month 2 Month 3
Category 1
Category 2
Category 3

and not
Month 1
Category 1
Category 2
Category 3

Month 2
Category 1
Category 2
Category 3

Please help, thanks.

I saw where you answered a question on Microsoft Office Online about reporting in Access subreports to look like a pivot table. The answer said only "A couple of options to try -
Pivot tabl
Sub reports

What does this mean? I'm having the same problem and consider myself an advanced user of MS Access

What you're asking for looks a lot like a Crosstab query.
The query wizard should generate most of what you need.

OTOH, maybe all you want is to use multiple columns (File -
Page Setup menu) with the month group header's ForceNewPage
property set to Before Section.

A crosstab query works fine for the query, but when I
try to create a report (so it can be a subreport), it
comes out like the first person's question. I want to
spread out some of the fields on the x axis and some on
the y axis, with totals in the detail below.

Thank you.

That's too vague for me to deal with.

If the query "works fine" and is generating the desired data
in its rows, then the rest of it is just a matter of placing
the report's text boxes where you want to see the data
displayed.

Sorry, I meant a crosstab report, I had pivot tables on my mind after
reading an article!

Are you Dee or are you jumping into the thread? Are your column headings
generated from date increments?
