Formatting a harddisk

A very simple question.

I have a PC with Windows 2000 Professional. I lost the Administrator's
password.

Can i format the system and install a new OS? How can i do that?

There are several answers to your simple question:
- To reset the administrator's password: boot with a boot
disk from here: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
- To prevent this from happening again: Plan ahead and create a second
admin account and lock it away, same as you have at least two sets
of keys for your car. Don't you?
- To format your disk: Boot the machine with your Win2000 CD,
then allow the disk to be formatted when prompted.
