Every time i put a floppy into my drive to explore it or
use it, i get floppy is not formatted, okay i know theres
info on there so i put a blank floppy in and go for
format. It runs all the way to the end then says. Windows
was unable to complete the format. I have changed floppy
drives and there cables, i have removed the hardware and
reinstalled the hardware but to no avail.

Can anyone shed some light on this.....

I am running XP Pro with sp1 and all the relevent updates
from ms
..

Do you have one of the FDs that XP likes? KB says:

Windows XP supports formatting only the 1.44MB disk format.
Three-mode floppy drives (drives that are capable of reading/writing
with 720KB, 1.2MB and 1.44MB 3.5" disks) requires special driver
support, and support for this feature is not included in Windows XP.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply... When i first installed Xp i had
no problems in reading floppys as i coppied files to
disk, Fdisk.exe, format.com with no problems. Its just
recently started to play up

So what you're saying is that if my drive is just capable of reading a 720K
then it's useless even though I never use 720K disks? I only try to read and
format regular 1.44mb disks and I can't use any of them since I got XP.
