Formattable photo emails?

I understand that there is a limited amount of stuff you can do with
formatted emails (or that used to be the case anyway...) because the result
is somewhat dependent on the recipient's software, resolution, ISP etc. but
can anyone direct me towards the easiest way to make an email with some
formatable text, a smallish .jpg picture or two and possibly some control
over layout. I definitely would want to be able to insert identifying text
below each picture...

For those friends and family of mine who can receive it, I would like this
e-mailer to just apear in their inboxes as graphics without having to click
on anything or open attachments etc. I know these infernal spammers do it
all the time with pretty sophticated graphics and animation but don't know
if their authoring methods and tools are complicated/sophisticated or
whether there is some simple methods to employ if I was not looking for
"over-the-top" graphics and don't need an enourmous amount of formatting
control or professional level skills.

I am woefully ignorant of the advancements in this area. I can work with
either the mac or PC platform and happen to have a copy of Adobe GoLive 7
(if that would be useful...) although I have never used it. All tips will
be appreciated.

Hi DMS,

Outlook Express provides for some formatting using a rich text (HTML)
message.

Spider

Pictures can be inserted and text added to the side or underneath. A page
could be composed using Word and sent to a mail recipient from the File
menu. The page may need to be saved before being sent. Many people make use
of rich text messages. There are newsgroups where these folks congregate.
Some are in stationery newsgroups, some in other newsgroups on private
servers. Over time where they get together would be revealed by asking
questions...if you want to learn more of what can be done.

Recipients will need to tell you if such a message is unacceptable. I'm not
familiar with Adobe GoLive 7, but you may be able to send a page using the
program. A graphics program for resizing pictures is recommended. I keep
photos (in e-mail messages) to a pixel width of 600 to 800.

The question involved OE and HTML formatting and was misposted to the Word
NG. HTML is perfectly appropriate in asking such questions in the OE NGs.

followup to the OE NG.

You can use any HTML editor and create an HTML page you wish to send. Then
you can use in a new HTML message in OE, Insert | Text from File and then
choose the htm file.

Alternatively you can compose and preview in OE itself in an HTML message.

I'd suggest you go to one of the stationery NGs on the msnews.microsoft.com
newsserver and post questions there, as HTML messaging is encouraged there
and there are lots of people to help you with specifics.

cheers,

steve
