I would like to format my hard drive to "start over", but
have been unable to. The commant prompt is at c\winnt and
asks if I want to proceed with format. I say yes, but
then it just goes back to the command prompt. Since I
have downloaded SP4 and various recommended security
files, it seems that I have been having problems with my
computer. One of the main ones is that Washington State
Unemployment will no longer accept my information to file
for a claim. Other personal computers and ones at the
library will accept my claim. ?????

To do a clean install, either boot the CD-Rom or boot the Windows 2000 setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Win2k CD-rom;
change to the \bootdisk directory on the cd-rom and execute makeboot.exe
(from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.
