Format usb hdd

I have an external usb 'box' in which I have a new hdd.
I can't see it in My Computer, which I assume is because it is unformatted.
I would appreciate advice on how to format.

If you your have the correct drivers installed, right click on My Computer
and select Manage. Go to Storage, Disk Management.
You can partition and format your new drive there.
