format change

Ive made a small movie in windows movie maker, yet when I try to burn it to VCD, SVCD or DVD with Nero, it doesnt recognise its format, nor do most other programmes for that matter. How can I get this file onto DVD, or how do I change its format?
 
Save the movie in DV-AVI format instead of WMV. That should be compatible
with most (if not all) third-party software.
