need help with a question please.

Once a hard drive has been formatted, is it at all possible to retrieve any
data from it in the future by any means??

If the drive is fat/32 it's pretty easy to use an unformat utility
to retrieve most all of the data...
If the drive is NTFS...there are data recovery utilites which may also be
able to recover data.

Note: if the drive has been written to once it's been formatted...
or a "cleaning" utility has been uised on the drive...
The data is essentially unrecoverable without extensive and expensive lab
work
 
Using sophisticated (read "pricey") software it is poosible to read
reformatted drives. But not by average consumers.
 
if you just formated your hdd and did not write anything onto it - your data
is still there and you can recover it with various software regarding FS

if you overwritten your HDD partialy - your data is recoverable by software
from the parts you DID NOT overwrite

if you overwritten the whole drive - some data may be extracted using really
expensive technologies

Yes, formatting alone does not overwrite the file data
itself.
