Form size

Boon

Hi,

When a user double click the form and the form pop up. I want the form to be
"full". I mean no scroll bars on horizontal or vertical.

When I set the area in design veiw, save it. Then open the form. The first
time everyting looks good. No scoll bar. But, when I click it again, now
there are scoll bars.

Anyone has an idea what happens?

Thanks a lot

Thank you. But this way when user shinks the form, there will be no scroll
bar at all.

You have to play with it a bit but open the form in design view. Drag the
frame of the form to the size you need and then drag the form itself (where
you place all your fields) to meet the frame, then open the from in view. You
will probably see scroll bars and if so, go back into design view and adjust
the form and the frame again. Keep doing this going back and forth until you
see no scroll bars in view. Click the save button to save it and then when a
user opens it and want to shrink it, the scroll bars will appear. It can be a
pain to begin with but after a while went you have done it long enough it's
not so bad.

Hope this helps!!!

Hello,

Thanks a lot!! I know you understood my problem. Your idea is cool, but I am
confused with what you meant by 'drag the frame'
and 'drag the form' ?

When open the form in design view. I drag the right-bottom conner. This is
to adjust the size of the form, right?

in the form I have several buttons, conbos, and subform. How to "drag the
form"

Thank you,
Boon

When I say Form, I mean part with all the micro dots on it where you drag and
drop you buttons, text boxes, cbo etc on. Grab the side edge, left click and
drag it. For the bottom of it grab the form footer bar and drag it down. By
Frame, I mean the outside part that in design view has the scroll bars and in
the top right hand corner has the minimize, maximize and close buttons. Left
click the edge of the side and drag and do the same with the bottom.

If you still have trouble, you can post back but I will not be able to
answer until Tuesday so hopefully you will figure it out or someone else will
chime in to walk you through it. Print out what I just said and keep it next
to you as you are doing it so you are not going back and forth between the
form and this message board.

I got what you meant by Form now. But for the Frame, I don't see minimize,
maximize buttons. I have only close buttons.

I use Access2007.

Thanks

Hi Boon,

Well, I'm kind of at a loss because although I have 2007, I haven't loaded
it yet so I don't know anything about it. However, I would think that part
should still be the same.

Basically, if you have the form sized to what you want you just need to
adjust the frame to fit it and after going back and forth a few times, you
should not see your scroll bars. When you see the scroll bars you need to
bring the frame out and if you have no scroll bars but the size is off you
need to bring the frame in. As I said it will take a while until you get the
hang of it. The minimize and maximize button on the frame are not necessary
in order to adjust the form so the scroll bars don't show.

Let me know how you make out.

Ohh.

You mean 1. adjust the form size in design view. and 2. adjust the frame in
"form view" ?

Let me try and I'll let you know how it goes...

thanks

That is correct. Adjust the form size first in design view to get it to the
size you want when you are working in it inputting your data. After you have
it to the size you want it to, then size the frame around it until the scroll
bars disappear. If the form is sized properly and you have no scroll bars and
this is how you want it to look when you open it to input your data, SAVE IT
before you do anything else. If you adjust it more but mess up, now that it's
saved you will always be able to open it from the previous size.

Let me know how you make out.

All right. I made it!!!

The point is that when I working in design view, I adjust the size of the
form then save and close the form. Then I open it by double click it. This
way I couldn't save the frame size, and it changed back to scroll bar.

This is what it works... I open in design view adjust the size, then change
the view to "Form view" (not save anything yet.), adjust the size of the
frame. then click close (x button). Now access pop up a message asking to
save. I click save. and it works!

thanks
