Why, when I open a form which contains several subforms
and click INSERT | NEW RECORD, the cursor jumps to one of
the subforms at the bottom of the screen instead of the
first field (according to tab order) on the main form?

it is set as the first field in your tab order...???

From the main toolbar in Access, click on View/Tab Order, and see
what the order is.

The tab order is set correctly for ALL subforms (there
are 4 of them on the main form). What I'm saying is that
when I click INSERT | NEW RECORD the cursor jumps to one
of the subforms instead of the focus remaining on the
main form. I already have a .SetFocus statement on the
last field on the last subform to move to the focus to
the main form (and a particular field on the main form).
It does that, but a new record is not created -- I stay
in the same record. I need to move from the last field
on the last subform to a NEW RECORD on the main form.
Does this make sense? It's crazy to me -- I'm pulling my
hair out trying to figure this out!! Thanks for your
help!
