Hi all,

i would like to know the best way to implement menu in access.

Before i was using forms with button to build navigator like menu.

Recently i start customising the menu bars.

That works correctly under win98 but when the same application run in winxp
i have an automation error when the forth item of the first menu is build.

Also recently we bought access 2003 and install it. Now when a particular
user start the program
there is an error message that prevent us from using it. Something like
there is a problem with
your command bar and access wont start. Finally we desinstall it.

is there know issue wioth access and menu modification?

regards,
pierre

Conceptually many believe that a menu driven app is more "proffessional"
looking and will usually say that "this his how most other Windows apps
work". The one app that I did that was totally menu driven has generated
more support calls of the nature "how do I do this..." or "how do I get
to..." then any other I have ever created and believe me, these options they
were looking for are RIGHT THERE in the menu.

After a couple of oddball cases where a user somehow managed to close the
custom menu bar (leaving the app useless) I added a Switchboard style menu
form that could be brought up as an option. Feedback indicates that the
form menu is almost universally preferred to using the menu bar. This from a
user base of around 300.

I can't comment on those specific problems, but I have found that when using
custom Menus and Toolbars in Access that "stuff happens". They can get
corrupted. They can magically just lose items. Changes to one can
inadvertantly affect others. It is one of the buggier areas in Access IMO.

Thank you so much to have share your experience.

It is precious to me since recently i move from switchboard style
menu to command bar menu exactly because they look professionnal.

Since then i experienced the same problems you mentionned.

I will go back to switchboard style before my users starts to be bugged

Best regards,
Pierre
