I have up and running an access data project (.adp) with SQL Server 2000.
I'm looking for some help with filter by form and/or filter for:________
functionality on the forms. Seems that form filtering with .adp and Access
runtime is not fully workable.
I want my users to be able to open forms and be able to search, filter, and
sort by their own criteria. I have several different forms that I'd like
this functionality and would welcome any suggestions. I'm at a standstill
pending microsoft support help.
Thanks in advance.

The built in menus are disabled in runtime - this also applies to mdb.
What you need to do is add your own custom toolbar, and drag the Filter
buttons onto it. Then in forms, select this toolbar.

Simeon,
You're correct about the menu items disabled. The issue is that with the
..adp some of the buttons are not available to create the custom toolbar. A
few options are available, such as filter by selection, and the sort
ascending and descending buttons. However, I would like to have a bit more
functionality that is not available. Specifically the Filter for:___________
or the filter by form. I've asked for help directly from Microsoft support
and I am working with them. It will be at least 2 more days until we are
scheduled to talk again. In the meantime, any help would be appreciated.

Thats right, I remember having the Filter For problem before. Not sure about
the Filter By Form issue.

I have an ADP with Filter For in it, I just need to think about where I
found it. I use the same toolbar in all my projects since, so its a while
since I did it.

I think this it is:
Click View, Toolbars, Customise
Tick Shortcut Menus
Tick Form, then select 'Form View Subform'

Both the options you want are there, just drag them into your own toolbar.
