Forgot Password needed to open document

I have an old word document that is password protected. I
have lost the password. Although Microsoft indicates that
there is no way to reset the password and.or open the
document, I vaguely remember that there is a method that
one can use to open the document. I used it many years
ago but I can't remember. Thanks for any help!
 
Not so. A document password protected against opening will be heavily
encrypted. You can't open it without the password.
