What do i do to logon to computer when i have forgotten
my password? I have windows professional 2000.
Hi Cathy...
MY SUGGESTION > From what I understand, the only way to overcome this problem
is to reinstall Windows 2000 Pro as a clean install. To accomplish your
goal (correcting the loss of your password & your loss of access to the
system), DO NOT re-install it as an UPDATE. Windows 2000 Pro, in this case,
must be re-installed as a CLEAN INSTALL to solve your problem.
WARNING >>> Before you do this, be aware that ALL your personal data on the harddrive
may be wiped out, along with any software applications you have already installed and the configurations you have already selected to customize each software application. ALL OF THIS will likely have to be reinstalled and reconfigured <(the applications) after you have FIRST re-installed W2K Pro. As you are reinstalling W2K Pro as a clean install, it will give you the opportunity to CREATE A FRESH PASSWORD (your previous password will have been deleted), so you might want to decide what you will want to use as
your password before you perform the clean install. I hope this helps you.
