ForestPrep Replication

Kris

We are about to do an Exchange 2003 ForestPrep to our
Active Directory. This forestprep will update the schema
and objects which will cause replication.

I am wondering how this replication works. We have quite
a number of slow links. Will it just start replicating
all the changes at once to all DC/GC servers. Which slows
down the links for a while. Or does is just update a
certain number of objects at each replication interval.

When you remove a Global Catalog setting from a server I
belive it will remove about 500 objects / replication
interval.

I suppose the replication start when you have updated the schema. Which
slows down the links for a while as you said

Exhange 2003 adds some improvements in the setup procedure if run in windows
2003 enviroment (2003 forest level), as adding new ttributes to the GC won't
force a ful AD sync. If you are not in WS2k3 enviroment, then the effect of
installing Exchange 2003 is the same as in Exchange 2000.
