Hi All,
I am confused about what I am reading about the Schema, the book says
"By Default, the first domain controller installed in a forest (The Domain
Controller for the Forest Root domain) assumes the Schema master role. I
understand fully about there only being one Schema master per forest.
So here is my question, say you have to seperate Companys both with Win2k AD
domains and the companys merge but they both want to keep there seperate
namespace, so far not a problem, but they both have two seperate Schema's.
So now I merge the two Seperate forest into one forest. Which Schema does AD
use. Do I have a choice.

Thanks in Advance

you can't just merge two forests into one. Migration process is either
migrating from one forest to another, or by creating trusts betwean forest.
In first case you decide which forest to keep (and the schema), in the other
scenario you keep both schemas, but you have to setup trusts (or transitive
forest trust if both forests are Windows Server 2003 forest).
In one forest you can have separate namespaces. They are called trees
(company1.com, company2.com, company2.com,....) and they share the same
forest schema. If you merge two companies in one forests, then you create a
new tree in one of existing forests and migrate objects (with ADMT for
example).
