Forcing a Canon MP730 to "make" black with colours?

I'm waiting for a new print head for my Canon MP730, but in the meantime is
there any way to force the printer to use all three colours to make black
in place of the non-working black print`head?

Finding yourself without a working printer is almost as bad as having no
internet access or no cable TV...

I don't have my ip3000 on me(same head according to my qy6-0042 box), I
just gave it to a friend, so I can't double check this. But select
photo paper, or matte paper, this should make black with color.

*note: I've only employed the technique of using "plain paper" when
using matte paper so it wouldn't make black with all the colors. I
only assume the reverse would be true, additional clicking may be
required stating that you are printing graphics and not text.

Thanks, that works perfectly.

Select for the text a color about 70-80% black (gray).

Unfortunately, that works only for word processor texts - not web pages or
e-mail.
