Forced font substitution in Access 2002?

Hi all,

I have a working database developed in Access 2000 that I want to run under
Access 2002 (Office XP).
Unfortunately I've run into a problem with what I believe to be with font
substitution. In order to highlight certain records I use two overlapping
fields (see: http://www.mvps.org/access/forms/frm0024.htm).

This works fine in Access 2000 - at least if I remove the font substitution
checkmark under Functions/Options/Show (At least that's where I think they
are in the English version - I'm working with a Danish version, sorry).

However I have not been able to locate the place where I can turn off font
substitution in Access 2002. Anybody know where to find this? Or can it be
turned off with regedit?

Alternatively, can the changing of the background color of a field on a
continuous form that i linked to a database table be done in another way?

I look forward to some intelligent answers. Thank you.

Regards,
Kaj

Some additional information:

I want to use the block character of font "Terminal" (character code 219).
However in Access 2002 this seems to be automatically converted to some
other font type that doesn't have the block character.

As long as you have three or fewer conditions, you can use the built-in conditional formatting feature that was added in Access 2000. This will allow you to have different back colors depending on conditions in each record of a continuous form without having to resort to the old Access 97 emthod of using odd fonts.

Select the control you want to have the conditional format and go to Format | Conditional Formatting on the main menu bar. Here you can set the expression and the format you want to be true for each expression. Make sure you choose "Expression Is" if the condition is based on a value other than the control you want to format.

Look up Conditional Formatting in Access Help for more info.

Thanks for your reply.

I have looked into it - but it seems that the attributes of a field can be
changed only based on its own content. What I need is a way to change the
formatting of a field based on values in other fields. The conditional
formatting doesn't seem to provide this feature.

Yes, it does. Specify the "Expression is" option, and create a
boolean-valued expression involving the other fields.
